Prevention - Advice
We all like our cars but please remember your
personal safety is more important than you car.
We
all need to take care of our vehicles in this day and age but
choosing the best method can be difficult and unnecessarily costly
if you don't take the best advice.
Our
members are trained to high standards in vehicle entry techniques?
Many supply and install security locks, security grilles and
bulkheads for high risk vehicles particularly light commercials.
At home
Away from home
-
Keep your keys with you at all times
-
Immediately remove tags with your registration number on your
key ring (used when vehicles are serviced)
-
If you keep your keys in a bag do not have personal details like
a driving licence and address in the same one.
If your keys are stolen or lost
-
Contact the police
-
If you are unable to get an Auto locksmith straight away use a
spare key to move you vehicle to another location.
If you do not have a spare key Immobilise it as soon as you can
by either a security device or remove something that would
prevent it from starting or being moved or block it in with
another vehicle.
-
Contact your insurance company.
-
Your local ALA member may even be able to advice on alarm and
immobiliser installations in some cases to insurance standards.
